Our Wedding–First Sight

Hello there again,

/
/

I hope you’re enjoying the rainy days we’ve been having (that is if you’re in Oklahoma where we’ve been praying for rain for awhile now)!  Our 3 month anniversary is coming up this week, and I recently remembered that I haven’t shared the rest of our wedding photos with you yet.  Forgive me, I’m still working out this new crazy schedule of mine.  Isn’t it crazy how when we move from season to season in our lives we expect it to be so different each time, but so much seems to stay the same?  I’ve had a “crazy schedule” since high school, will it ever end?

/
/

Who knows, but I’ve been trying to change my heart toward the matter to “stop the glorification of busy.”  Anyway, we can talk about that another time, for now we can get to the amazing photos (by Josh McCullock, of course) of our first sight.  Enjoy!

This photo is awesome.  Did you notice that you can see me in the reflection of the window?  Go back and look…killer shot.

Thanks again to Josh for taking these wonderful photos.  Even if you’ve been to his blog before, you should go again; he’s been updating it recently.  Thank you all for sharing these memories with me today!  I hope you stay warm and dry today.

Our Wedding–Details

Hi everyone,

/
/

Thanks for coming back to look at more wedding photos!  When I shoot a wedding, some of my favorite shots to take are of the details.  It’s a chance to really capture all the hard work the bride and her friends and family put into the decorations as well as all the sentimental details including jewelry, shoes, and flowers.  Not to mention the rings!  I love it all.

/
/

Maybe that’s why I was second most excited about these photos when we got them back from Josh.  I’ve included the shots of my accessories worn in the wedding, but I’ll include the decorations for the ceremony and reception when I show you the rest of those photos.

/
/

Anyway, I hope you like them as much as I do (you probably won’t though….because I like them A L O T.  Just saying).

/
/

Thanks again for stopping by–Happy Monday!

Oh, how I adore this photo!  This necklace is my grandma’s, but it was actually passed down to her from her grandmother, who received it on her wedding day over 100 years ago.  Since then 5 generations of women in my family have worn it on their wedding days.  That includes my great grandmother, grandma, mom, aunt, cousins, and me.  Woah.  Talk about special.  And don’t even get me started on how beautiful it is and how perfectly it went with my dress and overall personal style!  Too much I tell you, too much.

/
/

/
/

This is my amazing dress, which my big, Amanda Moore, made as I explained in the previous post.  She gets some serious credit for that one right?!  Ok, the story behind this though is that once upon a time, this was my senior prom dress (I’m sorry I don’t have a photo of it handy!).  After getting frustrated trying on very expensive wedding dresses that were beautiful, but just not me, I came home to my prom dress and cut off the top layer of fabric.  I then texted Amanda asking if she thought she could make it into something good, and she came right over to measure and pin and make some sewing magic happen.  A few months later and I had my dress!  She’s a rockstar that one.  Also!  Some of you were asking about my lace overlay that I wore in our ceremony.  I actually found that online on Etsy.  I wanted some sleeves for my dress since we had a winter wedding, and the lace piece worked wonderfully.

/
/

/
/

That’s my garter that I made, my “ballet slipper” TOMS, and my hair piece (Ahem…wedding crown).  I made the hair piece to be similar to this one I found on BHLDN.  I’ve had a few people ask me about making more and selling them…if you want one or something like it just ask me and we’ll talk.

My bouquet was probably the thing I was most nervous about making for the wedding.  I’d never made a bouquet or other flower arrangement before, so it was scary!  I’m so pleased with how it turned out though.  Likewise, the bridesmaids’ bouquets and boutonnieres for the guys were  nerve-racking, but they turned out great too!  I wasn’t nervous about making those flower crowns though–psh, I’m an expert there!  (kidding)

Here’s the line-up of all the rings  (obviously), but it’s also part of my “some old, something new” etc group.  That’s Colin’s ring on the far left, then my wedding ring (I’m in love) next to his.  The little turquoise ring is one I wear on my pinky knuckle every day, but it also became my “something blue.”  The fabulous pearl ring on the right belongs to Colin’s step-mom, Eileen.  She lent it to me as my “something borrowed” for the wedding day, and it ended up matching my hair piece perfectly too!  Magic.

Wow.  Just wow.  This story is just crazy.  Every day I cannot believe how blessed Colin and I are to have the story that we do–we just don’t deserve it.  My mom found this letter a few weeks after Colin proposed.  As you may know (and you can read more about here), Colin and I were in the same 1st and 2nd grade class.  He later moved away and we reunited in high school where we started dating and seven years later, here we are as husband and wife!  Anyway, I digress–Colin wrote this letter to me for my birthday in 1st grade.  To be fair, the teacher had everyone write nice things to me, but Colin’s was the only one that was only telling me nice things (not asking me questions or telling me about his favorite tv shows and such), AND his is the only one that says “you are special.”  I tear up almost every time I think about this.  Also, this letter is framed in my office as it will be forever and ever.  Oh, and I love how Josh put our rings on the letter–I definitely cried when I saw it, and I think I heard Colin sniffle too.  Just saying.

Our Wedding – Getting Ready

Hi everyone!

/
/

As most of you know, I don’t have a facebook but I DO have a blog.  This means any photos I want to share show up here.  Today I’m going to start the process of sharing our amazing wedding photos taken by Josh McCullock!  I’ll post them in sections since there are so many, so I hope you enjoy the anticipation in between.

/
/

Also, side note: photography is in the process of becoming my full-time job, and when I reach that point my blog will definitely see some more tender love and care.  I just wanted to let everyone know in case you stopped following me due to lack of updating (I don’t blame you for that!) or in case you are one of those people who still checks in regularly to see if I’ve posted.  Let the posting begin!

/
/

You all are wonderful.

My sweet friend, Johnny Stimson (and Matt of course!) did the music for our wedding.  He came early to play the songs for the ceremony and our first dance that I hadn’t heard yet.  It was magic–the perfect touch to the ceremony and reception, and the perfect treat while we were getting ready and such!  Thanks Johnny and Matt!

/
/

/
/

That’s my cousin, Emily (Em) who did my hair and makeup.  She’s 16…so yeah, she’s clearly amazing!

/
/

/
/

My gift from Colin was a bible that said “Mary Ogilvie” on the cover.  I’m obsessed.

/
/

/
/

Seeing all my lovely friends wearing flower crowns and pretty dresses was like a dream–they are so pretty, and I love flower crowns!

/
/

/
/

My bridesmaids and guestbook girls all wrote me sweet notes of encouragement and put them in a darling box they made me.  Talk about tears–I mean really.

/
/

/
/

He is a handsome one, no?

/
/

/

If anyone got a GQ picture, of course it would be Hoods…of course haha

/

Every groomsman is in this photo somehow.  I can’t decide if I think it’s cool or creepy!

/
/

/
/

/

Colin really wanted a tweed vest to be his way of “standing out” among the groomsmen.  This one was on sale at Steinmart…I’m sorry, what?!

My wedding crown!

/

Everything about this photo is sweet to me.

/
/

/

My gift to Colin was my purity ring (I got it a few months before we started dating) and a bottle of letters I’ve been writing to “my future husband” since I was 15.  As you’ll see below, he tried to get the letters out with tweezers but he ended up having to smash it!

Oh, my dress!  In case you were wondering, my amazing big, Amanda Moore, made my dress.  Yes you heard me, she made it.  It was so special!

our engagement photos

Well hi there!

/
/

I’m sorry it’s been so long since I’ve posted anything here, but let’s face it–you should be used to that by now.  I figured you would want to see some of Colin’s and my engagement photos though!  They were taken by the wonderful Josh McCullock–seriously it would take me forever to tell you how great this guy is.  Colin and I really loved hanging out with him!

/
/

Anyway, I hope you like these as much as I do:

Some FAQs:

/
/

Who took your photos?

/
/

Josh McCullock…duh!  You should have been paying attention earlier!  Just kidding, I know you were super excited to get to the photos :]

/
/

Where did you take your photos?

/
/

The Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge.  It’s magic…and it’s in Oklahoma…I know, right?

/
/

What was your favorite part about taking these?

/
/

Getting to stare at Colin for a few hours and feel really pretty…what could be better than that?  Oh!  Also, I loved meeting Josh, he’s great (wait…I think I already mentioned that…)!

/
/

Where did you get your headband?

/
/

I made it.  Thanks!

/
/

How did you get that last photo?

/
/

Well you see, we were on top of Mt. Scott (the mountain in the background of the first photos) and it was FREEZING and windy and dark.  Josh shined his car headlights so they reflected off a boulder (I’m sorry…what?!) and onto us, and we stood really still (while shivering) and he got that amazing shot!  Round of applause for Josh everyone!
